ALFESS is a new modern device, intended to improve gait when foot drop, and diminished foot & toe clearance is present. It assists the nerves of the tibialis anterior to actively dorsiflex the foot. The device is applied to the upper part of the lower leg. During walking, sensors identify the speed and angles of the leg to adapt to the walking pattern. An algorithm processes the information and sends out electrical impulses to the nerves to lift the forefoot. The user can easily increase or decrease the level of stimulation at any time.
